Trauma Therapy
You’re exhausted from living in the shadow of your past.
Trauma can leave you feeling disconnected—not just from others, but from the person you used to be.
It impacts your relationships, your emotional well-being, and your ability to feel safe in the world around you. Anxiety, trust issues, and the heavy burden of past wounds may be holding you back from the peace and freedom you deserve.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, initially developed in the late 1980s by Francine Shapiro. Today, it is one of the most powerful ways of helping individuals heal from trauma. EMDR focuses on traumatic memories, reducing the vividness of these memories, as well as fixed negative thoughts, by changing the way they’re stored in the brain. This allows you to adequately process and store the information thus allowing you to move past your past.
Stress responses are part of our natural fight, flight, or freeze instincts. When distress from a disturbing event remains, the upsetting images, thoughts, and emotions may create an overwhelming feeling of being back in that moment. EMDR therapy helps the brain process these memories, and allows normal healing to resume.
EMDR is a structured therapy that does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions.
